Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It has been 10 months since my last post but I could not let this month go by without reminding everyone how important it is to get your mammogram and do your monthly self check. I know it’s easy to disregard all of the posts and the pink things you see this time of the year but breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and it is affecting younger women more and more. Most everyone knows someone that has been touched by this so it is important to make your health a priority!

My journey has continued this year with visits to my oncologist and my breast surgeon every 3 months. I had a mammogram in June and an MRI in July. Both of those were stable. I will have another mammogram in December. I feel really good and don’t have any more of the side effects except for the lymphedema in my left arm. I feel like my energy level is about the same as before the treatments started.

This has been a busy year. My parents moved in with us in April after they sold their home. It was a big adjustment for us all but things are going very well. We love having them here and I hope they feel at home. My dad has vascular dementia and we wanted to help my mom care for him. I know my dad loves to sit on the screen porch and look at the trees especially now with the fall colors. In July, we sold the office building that I have worked at for 18 years. It was a busy and hard move and we are still looking for a new space to move our office and studio. In the meantime we are meeting at the owner’s house or working remotely. I don’t miss managing that property but it will be nice to have an office again where everything is in one place. No matter where we are we continue to teach people how money works. We even published another book specifically for women – How Money Works: Take Control or Lose It.

But the most exciting news from this year is I am going to be a GRANDMOTHER!! Emily and Adam are expecting a son in December. They told me they were expecting on Mother’s Day. Tim and I are so happy! We cannot wait to be Lolli and Pop! Our wonderful friends and family threw her a baby shower earlier this month and I can’t seem to stop buying things for him! They are going to be wonderful parents and this Christmas will be very special.

I appreciate everyone who has followed along and please let me know if I can help anyone you know that may be going through a similar experience.
